President's Message For December 2022

I want to start with some great news. The 2022 Children’s Winter Clothing Appeal ended with incredible success. We have already delivered the first truckload of donations to a truly worthy recipient, the Burma Children Medical Fund B.K. Kee Patient House.

The CMIRC Charity Golf Ball Drop 2022 at the Chiang Mai Expats Club Barbecue at Horizon Village & Resort in Doi Saket was a hit. We are hopeful that we can repeat this successful cooperation with CEC and Balloon Adventure Thailand in the future sometime.

Congratulations to Avis Rideout of Nikki's Place Agape Home for winning the top prize of 100,000 USD at THE ONE Humanitarian Awards in Hong Kong. For those who may not know, CMIRC nominated Ms Rideout to enter the competition. Her selfless service is a true inspiration to all of us. We are humbled to witness her success. Keep up your inspiring work! Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Rotary District 3450 for recognizing Avis' accomplishments.

Since I last wrote, our CMIRC School Vision Screening Program team tested students' eyesight at the Wat Pa Phaeng, Wat Tha Sa Toi, Wat Dok Ngern, and Wat Sri Donchai Municipal Schools.

A new consignment of Teddy Trekkers went on a mission to cheer up sick children in Omkoi, Chiang Mai Province. Make sure you do not miss the photos! They are emotional.

On November 26, Charter President Roger Lindley, Membership Chair Myrna Muyana, Youth Programs Director Raphael Djemal, and I helped promote the Chiang Mai International Rotary Club at the CityLife Garden Fair 2022. It was nice to catch up with our long-term supporters and meet new friendly faces.

There was some progress in our Water & Sanitation Project Global Grant application, jointly made with the Rotary Club of Fig Garden in Fresno, CA. The project is now going under the first-level review by Rotary International.

Being in Rotary rocks! Our latest team-building dance is out. Membership Chair Myrna taught us how to boogie. You will see we have all got the boogie in our feet!

CMIRC members celebrated Halloween by throwing a thematic Trivia Night and showing off their best moves to Michael Jackson's song "Thriller." Another must-watch video!
