In Phrao, certificates were proudly presented to more than 300 children who completed the Children’s Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Program. The graduation ceremony was a joyful and moving occasion, with students receiving their certificates and medals - symbols of new skills that may one day save their lives.

This program carries deep meaning for the local community. When the project first began, we were told a heartbreaking story: the year before the program launched, two Grade 4 girls drowned. Had this program existed then, they would have been among the students receiving certificates today. That loss remains a powerful reminder of why this work matters so deeply.
The Children’s Water Safety and Drowning Prevention Program was created by Dr. John Schorr and is one of the key ongoing projects of the Chiang Mai International Rotary Club. The Phrao program is expertly managed and delivered by our valued partner organization, Warm Heart Foundation, whose dedication and local knowledge ensure the program reaches those who need it most.
Through education, prevention, and community partnership, this project is helping protect children, empower families, and prevent future tragedies.
