CMIRC-Nominated Yoshimi Horiuchi Named Top 12 Semi-Finalist for THE ONE 2026
CMIRC is proud to celebrate an important international recognition for Yoshimi Horiuchi, founder of the Bookworm Foundation. In September 2026, Yoshimi was selected as one of only 12 Semi-Finalists for THE ONE International Humanitarian Award 2026.
CMIRC had the privilege of supporting Yoshimi’s nomination for the award, which recognizes outstanding humanitarian service. Her selection reflects many years of work supporting children, education and communities across Northern Thailand.
A continuing CMIRC tradition of recognizing humanitarian leadership
THE ONE has a meaningful history for CMIRC. The club previously supported nominations connected with Kanchana Thornton of the Burma Children Medical Fund and Agape Home founder Avis Rideout. Avis later won the international award in 2022, helping unlock US$100,000 that contributed to the development of Nikki’s Apartments at Agape Home.
Yoshimi’s Top 12 selection continues that tradition of using Rotary connections and advocacy to help strong local humanitarian work gain wider recognition and support.
Bookworm Foundation and Rotary friendship in action
Earlier in 2026, CMIRC joined the Rotary Club of Tokyo Hiroo and Rotary clubs from Jeju Island in a visit supporting the Bookworm Foundation’s mobile library outreach in Phrao. The partnership reflects the same principle at the heart of Yoshimi’s work: expanding opportunities for children through education, access and community connection.
CMIRC congratulates Yoshimi on reaching the Top 12 and will share further updates as the award process continues.
