In 2024, CMIRC embarked on a new project, granting scholarships to disadvantaged Thai and Myanmar high school graduates.
To date we have three Myanmar students at Chiang Mai University, and one Thai student in a one year nursing program. The university students are majoring in accounting, environmental science and computer science.
Our program is a little unique in that we mentor the students at regular intervals and make sure they give back to other Rotary projects. All members are encouraged to participate, however they like; we have several lunches and a Christmas party for all these and prospective students. We are actively raising more funds and hope to double in size next year.
