Helping Chiang Mai Students See a Brighter Future

ree

As the new school year begins, CMIRC is proud to relaunch one of our most impactful municipal school-based initiatives: the School Vision Screening Project. Each year, this program provides vital vision screenings for more than 800 students in Grades 3 and 5 across Chiang Mai Municipal Schools.

Last year alone, thanks to the generosity of our partners and supporters, 140 students received free prescription glasses, giving them the chance to fully engage in classroom learning without the barrier of poor vision.

We’re grateful once again to the Rotary Club Chiang Mai-Wattana for providing staffing support and for establishing our connection to the Wat Suan Dok School. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our major donor, Rotary Club Spokane 21, whose funding fully supports the program this year. We're also fortunate to partner with the Eyewear Designs Company of Long Island, N.Y., USA, which continues to donate high-quality children's eyeglass frames.

This effort wouldn't be possible without the dedication of the dozens of Rotary members and friends of Rotary who volunteer their time to conduct the screenings. We are also deeply appreciative of our consulting ophthalmologist, Dr. Nickie, for evaluating and supporting cases that require advanced care. And a special thank you to Optician One, who writes the prescriptions, prepares lenses, provides fittings, and ensures that every pair of glasses is ready to wear.

With this incredible team behind us, CMIRC is ready for another school year of service, making sure our students can see clearly and succeed fully.
