CMIRC is pleased to share that the club is currently preparing a nomination for Yoshimi Horiuchi and the Bookworm Foundation for THE ONE International Humanitarian Award 2026.
THE ONE International Humanitarian Award is a Rotary District 3450 initiative that recognizes individuals whose extraordinary service has created meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of others around the world. The award provides US$100,000 to the winner and US$50,000 to each of two runners-up.
Yoshimi’s decades of dedication to literacy, education, and opportunity for underserved children have transformed lives across Northern Thailand and beyond. Through the Bookworm Foundation, her work has helped open doors to reading, learning, and confidence for children who may otherwise have had limited access to books and educational support.

This nomination also builds on CMIRC’s history of connection with THE ONE International Humanitarian Award. Avis Rideout of Agape Home was the 2022 winner, a proud moment for the Chiang Mai service community and for all who know her work.
The application deadline is July 3, 2026. CMIRC members involved in the nomination are gathering information, supporting documentation, and impact stories to strengthen the application. We thank everyone who is contributing to this effort and will share updates as the nomination progresses.
