About the Event

Dr Lorel Mayberry (PhD Sexology, M Ed, PGDip Curriculum & Evaluation, B Ed). Lorel was a participant in a Group Study Professional Exchange (GSE) team in 1994 to Arkansas, USA and has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. In between Lorel’s Curtin University commitments in sexuality and relationship education, she travels to Northern Thailand working in partnership with Lahu (a hill tribe group) friends to enhance the lives of hill tribe children, and to facilitate SRE. These children are the most vulnerable to the shocking practice of sex trafficking. Lorel is the inaugural president of Borderless Friendship Western Australia (BFWA). BFWA has been supporting children and young people to remain at school and more than 48 young hill tribe people are now studying at university or vocational education in Chiang Mai. A decade ago students were struggling to finish primary school. Scholarships are needed to support the young people so they can continue their tertiary education. Any assistance with funding is appreciated. Details of BFWA’s work can be found www.borderlessfriendship.org.
