Jojo's Sanctuary was founded in 2016 by Heather Askew and Butsaba and Jay Saeher. Their mission is to educate, protect and empower vulnerable children, families and communities in Northern Thailand. Since its inception, Jojo's Sanctuary has provided educational scholarships for over 200 students, assisted on citizenship cases for nearly 100 clients and run three cycles of the Building Family Dreams family strengthening program. All our programs are created with the goal of family preservation, addressing the root causes that lead to abuse, exploitation and parents placing children in orphanages. Jojo's Sanctuary was chosen to be part of the 2023 cohort of the Gratitude Fellowship. Heather has lived in Thailand since 2011 and formerly worked with Taw Saeng and HUG Project. She has experience in prevention, intervention and after care for child exploitation. In 2023, Heather received her Master's Degree in Child Advocacy and Policy.
